Synopsis

Covering a windsurfing competition should have been a breeze for reporter Meg Reed, but with a killer in the curl, she’s headed for rough waters…

Hood River in the Columbia River Gorge is the windsurfing capital of the world, and Meg is stoked to cover the King of the Hook event for Portland’s Northwest Extreme magazine. Before the competition gets under way, Meg has a chance to try some windsurfing on her own. But when the current sweeps her downriver, she spots a body snagged on the rocks. The dead man is Justin Cruise, aka Cruise Control, a celebrity windsurfer and not exactly a nice guy. It’s soon clear his death was no accident, and Cruise had no shortage of enemies. As Meg dives right in to discover who wiped out the windsurfer, she’ll need to keep her balance—or she too may get blown away.

My Review:

** I received this Ebook for free in exchange for an honest review. This did not influence my review at all. **

Finally! The third installment in the Pacific Northwest Mystery series by author Kate Dyer-Seeley is here and I have read it! I can’t even begin to express how happy this made me! I have been one of Meg’s biggest fans from the very beginning of the series. She’s a strong willed, passionate, and intuitive and that adds up to an entertaining female protagonist. Kate Dyer-Seeley is a phenomenal adventure author who can draw you into a story complete with romance, excitement, mystery, and a cause for an itching to go on a road trip.

Silenced in the Surf was the perfect follow up to the previous books in this series. Meg heads up to the King of the Hook (surfing and windsurfing competition) in Hood River, Oregon to cover the event for the Northwest Extreme Magazine she works for and invites her two best friends to join her. While Meg is participating in an event for reporters, she finds another dead body and finds herself, once again, in the middle of a murder investigation. This book was fun, exciting, and extremely educational in the sport of windsurfing. I loved the read and was hooked from the very first page.

I loved that Matt and Jill were a bigger part of this story than they have been in the previous books of the series. It was fun to see Matt as he went about the competition writing for his own newspaper. We definitely got a better feel for Matt’s character beyond the cycling and brews, which helped to develop a deeper personality for him. I am excited to see where his character goes in the future of this series. I really hope Meg can get her act together where it concerns Matt before he decides he’s done waiting for Meg. I also enjoyed getting to know Jill and who she is as a character without Will. I was never a fan of Will and was happy to see him go. I can only hope that he is actually gone for good.

Silenced in the Surf is a splendidly written story that is complete with spot on descriptions, great flow, and a story line that is easy to follow and entertaining. Kate Dyer-Seeley is superb author and created a mystery that was complete; from the questionable characters, surprises, and a couple of twists that we may not have seen coming. From the well written story line to the complex and thoughtful characters, Silenced in the Surf is a story that’s guaranteed to entertain.

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

I hope you enjoyed my review.  Have you read these books?  If so, what did you think?

Happy page turning!
